skateboards for fun

My stepson wants us to create a skateboard together this summer. He has already designed it - it's a barnyard theme. It started out as a design only - not for riding. It is now undecided if he will actually use this board or just hang it on his wall as a piece of art. (I vote for art.)

Looking for skateboard decks brought me across these pages by photograper Lou Mora. And while looking for more, I came across laptop and iphone skins! Just for fun, take a look at all the funky graphics.

Most designs are done on the backside of the boards. Designs on the top need to be grippy so grip tape is used. The colors are limited, though. The above four pics are competition winners and are nice despite their single color. Via
I just bought a hot pink skin by HardCandy. But, now I think I like this much more! Go here to purchase ~ and see more.

Unfinished Beauties

Spaces that are unfinished or not traditionally finished can have wonderful texture and great ambiance. Here are some photographed by Susanna Vento:

Weekend Funnies

I'm not there yet, but why do I think this might happen? Hmm, that time of the month, me do believe.  Well anyway, the unappealing statement is visually very appealing to me; black and white, blocky text, bold statement. Yes, I like it anyway. And sometimes . . . it's just true.

It's Friday . . .

It's been rainy and chilly the last few days. I've not been exercising enough this week and feeling crampy and cold on top of it. The weekend is almost here. Now I'll have an excuse for this . . . I think.

It's felt a bit austere lately, like this home . . .

So, I think we need a little more of this . . .

Just because I Like it

I'm not sure where this "camera rental" is but I could see this look being transformed into a kitchen design . . . or a boutique of some sort (other than a camera rental - where is such thing, anyway?) But, mainly I just like its look.

More Rustic Modernity

Exposed structures especially when it's old wood, combined with simple, modern furniture is definitely a design theme that I am attracted to. Here is another project photographed by Bernard Touillon. I  LOVE the look of this kitchen; the combination of materials, the color . . . it is a wonderful loft except for a pretty big flaw. The reality of the sink separated from the cooktop and range is just not functional. Makes me sad that it appears to only be about appearances. Good design is both beautiful and functional.

Design has gone to the Dogs!

All dogs feel like Top Dog at Chico, a Japanese pet supply shop designed by Japanese firm atelier kuu co. Very stylish, clean and sparse this shop does not overwhelm you with loads of cheap, over-priced pet toys, collars and beds.  Rather it strives to make everything seem worth the price by placing  products on well designed shelves with room to breath and good lighting. The design firm is becoming known for its doggish designs also creating a hotel for man and his best friend as well as beauty shops and spas.

My friend, Rita, sent me these. I'm not sure where she found them online. (Thus, sorry about not giving the source!)
