A Natural Christmas

I love Christmas time. The celebrations, making special recipes, fires in the fireplaces, the decorations, and the zillion lights on the tree. Every year, our 8 foot plus Christmas tree averages 3,500 colored lights and a small fortune in ornaments. Not one for "designer" trees, I've always loved mixing all styles, from glittery hand blown German ornaments to natural pine cones. But, for the first time I may go with a more natural theme next year. I came across this home that was featured in Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles in one of my favorite design blogs, greige. As I slowly edit the extraneous materials, colors, and items out of my house, the more something simple and natural appeals to me.

What is your Christmas style? Parred down elegance, earthy, or wild-go-all-out explosion of lights and color?

They have the good fortune of starting off with an absolutely beautiful, classic home.

Not loving the main tree, though. The wrapping reminds me of a caterpillar cocoon and the shock of pink in below the tree looks like laundry.

THIS is gorgeous. The bold chevron tablecloth keeps this from looking staid. Wouldn't mind that jacket, either!

My Current Obsession

The rich tones of blue~gray are now my current color obsession. I considered it In our own home recently for our interior paint overhaul . . . but, it just doesn't work with our dark wood floors and kitchen colors. I wish I had a client right now that this would be perfect for. Here are some inspirations:

Vultures need Love too

Vultures do not conure up images of sweet birds chirping you awake on a spring morning. No, vultures are about to swoop down on our heads ripping bits of flesh with their talons as they grab us, tearing us from the earth.

Okay, maybe I exagerate a bit. But, like every other living thing, they provide balance to nature. And they can be quite beautiful, don't you think? I think their lovely soft gray and shades of ecru are a perfect starting point for a living room's color palette. You can read a bit more on them here.

Carved Pencils

Do you believe these?? They are incredibly whimsical and cool. Dalton Ghetti must have incredible patience.

But, I wonder how his eyesight is these days.

Feast for the Eyes

Perhaps these photos of food may be a bit much after a bit of over indulging yesterday on Thanksgiving. I guess not for me; we are in Poland . . . and had sushi last night. But, David Prince's photos are lovely still lifes and make me hungry for our own garden.
