More Wood & Stone Kitchens

Wood and stone combined in a kitchen that is both modern and rustic at the same time is apparently a theme that I admire. It keeps on resurfacing. Delight by Design blog featured this kitchen yesterday that was found in the Spanish design magazine, Nuevo Estilo.

Here is another although I don't know where I came across this:

Glimpses of Orange

I've been thinking about my sister-in-law a lot lately. Both because I miss her and out of guilt because I've been incommunicado the last month due to tons of travel and work. Whenever I come across a fabulous use of the color orange, I think about her as it is her favorite color. A friend came over for chai the other morning and had on a great asymmetrically cut orange jacket that I know my sister-in-law would love. I didn't take a photo of the jacket but I did come across these:

California TreeHouse Studio

It's been a week since I've posted anything. Starting a new project and the unpleasant job of taxes has taken up a lot time lately. Now that the sun seems to be shining brighter, I'm perusing architectural and other design websites. My first find:

Californians have some pretty cool stuff. Maybe it's because there are a lot of people that make a lot of money. You'd certainly have to be well-off to afford to build a super cool studio and "creative respite from the demands of domestic responsiblities" ~ that is the actual description!

Dreaming of Summer Homes

Again, I'm dreaming of summer. A winner of the AIA housing awards, this San Juan Island home by Heliotrope Architects will be my dream tonight.

Can't you just feel the breeze?

Caravan Crazies

My husband and I have a long standing joke about spending our retirement traveling around in a RV. I don't want to. Either does he, but he likes to jokingly threaten me. However, if they were this cool, perhaps I could be convinced . . .

After a day on the water, I could hang here.

I love this! Would drive you bonkers in a few weeks but the first couple of nights sleeping here would be blissful.
Very charming - I love the floor!

I remember these Chinese Lanterns hung out at backyard picnics from my childhood.

The "Hood"

Looks similar, although a tad brighter, to the Gypsy Caravan in the Wizard of Oz.

Cool modern.

Charming.

You could always sell Lemonade off the back!

Color of the Year Appears Again

Here it is again in one bright splash, the color of the year, Honeysuckle. It's like a big smack of lipstick.

Isay Weinfeld Design

Spending our spring break in Florida has gotten me excited for summer and the outdoor living that comes with it. I'm finding myself perusing designs that have huge connections to the outdoors. Brazilian architect, Isay Weinfeld, does just this. His signature style is a simple box with huge openings blurring the line between inside and out. What do you think? Do you like it or would you feel too exposed?
